MasterCraft was founded in 1968 when it built its first ski boat in a two-stall horse barn on a farm in Maryville, Tenn. Dissatisfied with the large wakes and pull of other ski boats, MasterCraft designed a hull that had the smallest wake in the industry, smooth and low at slalom and jump speeds, well-defined at trick speeds.
In its first year of operation, MasterCraft only built 12 boats. But the design was so revolutionary that the company began getting order after order, and MasterCraft soon became a force in the tournament ski boat market. As the watersports industry gravitated toward wakeboarding, MasterCraft responded with the legendary Xstar, now in its fourth generation of wake dominance. Over forty eight years later, MasterCraft is selling thousands of tournament ski, wakeboarding and wake surfing boats annually to keep up with consumer demand.
MasterCraft serves the world from a single manufacturing facility in Vonore, Tenn., where it employs over 500 "MasterCraftsmen." The key to MasterCraft's success comes from understanding the consumer's desires and innovating technologies to address the ever changing watersports landscape. From the Gen2 Surf System to the Ilmor 7.4 high horsepower, low emissions engine, MasterCraft is always offering innovations that can't be found from another manufacturer.
In over 30 different countries and throughout North America, MasterCraft sets the standard against which all others are measured.
